Bone Augmentation, Sinus Lift & PRF

Bone Augmentation, Sinus Lift and PRF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) are three advanced techniques in dental surgery and implantology, playing a crucial role in preparing the jaw to receive dental implants.

Dental extractions inevitably lead to bone resorption, reducing the volume of bone available for implant placement. The absence of bone stress in the extraction area also leads to bone atrophy. That’s why at theclinic®, we offer solutions to enable you either to place the implant(s) immediately at the time of dental avulsion, or to recreate bone so that we can place your dental implants in a second operation, usually within 4 months. Bone augmentation is a process whereby additional bone is added to areas of the jaw that lack it, improving bone density and quality to effectively support implants.

The bone grafting procedure

Bone grafting is an advanced, specialized surgical procedure designed to restore bone density and structure in specific areas of the jaw where there is insufficient bone. This lack of bone density can result from a variety of conditions, such as bone resorption after tooth extraction, severe periodontal disease, or as a natural consequence of aging. Bone grafting is often a necessary prerequisite for the placement of dental implants, providing a solid base for anchoring these implants.

Bone grafting involves adding bone to the area of the jaw that lacks it. To do this, dentists remove a fragment of bone from another part of the patient’s body, usually the chin or hip. Alternatively, synthetic or animal bone can also be used. The grafted bone is then positioned and attached to the affected area of the jaw.

Bone Augmentation, Sinus Lift & PRF

Sinus Lift and PRF

In the maxilla, we can recreate bone either by using a lateral flap called Sinus Lift and filling the sinus with an original animal bio-material that will transform into real bone within a few months, or by placing the implant directly and using the Sommers technique to fill the area of bone defect through the drill hole.

We can also augment lost bone volume with metal grids attached to your jaw with mini-screws. A combination of bio-bone and PRF is also placed in order to reshape the desired bone volume, usually within 3 months.

FRP, or fibrin-rich plasma, is a material produced by centrifuging your own blood, which is collected by a simple blood test at the very moment of the procedure. This PRF contains plasma, fibrin and all your body’s own growth factors to “boost” bone reconstruction.

Together, Bone Augmentation, Sinus Lift & PRF represent significant advances in bone regeneration and oral rehabilitation, offering customized solutions for patients requiring complex reconstructions.
